I don't usually use this blog to recount my own adventures--Julia Wilbur, Harriet Jacobs, Civil War soldiers et al. keep me pretty busy.

But bear with me this time.

Yesterday afternoon, my agent Roger Williams was at Hooray for Books in Alexandria with his wife Gina Cascone, daughter Bryony Williams Sheppard, and patient rest of their family. Gina and Bryony wrote a children's book, Around the World Right Now, and they stopped by the store to sign copies. 

While there, Roger told me I might expect to get preview copies of my own book shortly. Little did I realize how soon that would be. Later that day, our stalward UPS delivery person brought me a large box, and there it was. 

Here I am seeing the bound book for the first time! WIsh I had closed the door to my kitchen pantry first.
